french lessons

The general French courses are designed according to the Common European Framework of reference for language (CEFR) and include:

- theory and practical French grammar exercises;

- comprehension activities and written expression (with audio and video support);

- vocabulary enriching activities;

As a complement to linguistic goals, we permanently approach socio-cultural objectives.

The activities which are proposed are varied: simulations, role-playing games, debates, oral projects, workshops, studies of literary works, etc.

IULCF teachers utilize more than just one method. In order to design their courses, each professor has a variety of materials at their disposal. Aside from commercially available FLE methods, the teachers employ authentic documents encountered in daily life.

In order to boost motivation and reinforce the student's autonomy, the IULCF has invested in setting up a computer lab, and in training its professors on the use of digital tools within the FLE class. Convinced that technology can enhance learning process, we also encourage the BYOD (bring your own device) use in the classroom.

Specific learning objectives are set up for each level group in accordance with  the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
All levels : A1,A2, B1,B2,C1,C2

We also offer a tutoring sytem. Therefore, if you have any specific difficulties which cannot be solved in class, you can occasionally ask for a tutoring help.

There are 5 to 8 groups from beginners to advanced levels. Each group is made of  8 to 16 students (max).

Our intensive course prepares to D.E.L.F. and D.A.L.F. (Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française, Diplôme Approfondi de Lange Française).

In addition to educational class projetcs, IULCF offers its students year-round educational group projects (eg., treasure hunts, cultural outings, international celebrations).

Assessments

  • Placement test (diagnostic assessment): A mandatory placement test to determine the individual's strarting level is carried out during the first day of the session. It is accompagnied by a short welcoming ceremony and a tour of the Catholic Institute of Toulouse. This test permits the university to evaluate the written and oral competencies of each student and enables us to assemble groups at similar level and needs.
  • Formative evaluation : In the course of the month, teachers evaluate students by competency to gauge their progression and adapt their teaching objectives.
  • End of session test (summative evaluation): At the end of each monthly session, a test is given to evaluate the final level of the student. This test is designed according to the CEFR.
